The beginning of a long road

Doo Dah hit the school yard this week. He is already too cool for school. I pity the teachers trying to knock some sense into the little munchkin.
When I first started having babies, people told me to savour the early years. "You blink and they are gone" they said. And as I suffered Groundhog day syndrome year after year, baby after baby, these words resonated in my ears. I tried to savour, but really I think I was just surviving.

He slipped into his uniform on Tuesday morning and became a school boy before my eyes. As we dropped him off in his kindergarten classroom, I realised that somewhere in my sleep deprived haze I had indeed blinked and my little boy grew up a whole lot.

I miss him but I am so proud of him and so excited for him.

The beginning of a long road. A road of endless possibilities and opportunities with a lot of Groundhog day thrown in.

Does your school have an awful gold polo shirt like ours does?

That's the exact colour of my primary school top ... except we paired it with brown. I took me a long time to wear brown again!

I've never been able to wear maroon again because of high school!

Love the hat!
I totally understand the "blink and they are gone". Can't believe they are all 5 now

Gold and green it is for us too, but at least little Miss chose the dress so she is yellow free until they are all in the wash, then it will be skort and yellow!

That photo is GOLD MM. Love it! I'm actually digging the colour of the top, bright and cheery - and Yellow is still 'in' right? My 5 yr old starts BIG school this year too (couple of weeks to go in Tassie) and his 5 years has gone fast for me too - but maybe that's cos we've been busy with twins!!! All the best Doo Dah!!

He looks like a child full of character that one!! Our polo is green and purple - what is it with schools and uniforms?!?!

Cool photo! I love that his buttons are done up all the way to the top. Time passes way too quick. I blinked and missed five years, I think I was also busy with other babies!

Royal blue all the way here. Like a school full of Smurfs.

Bless! How cute is he?
It must feel pretty good to have two kids at home though. I'm hanging out to spend some quality time with my youngest two while big boy is at school.
And we're red and navy here. I always felt sorry for the kids who had to wear gold and bottle green. Gold and blue is OK.

We have maroon, perfectly impractical for the hot summers Perth days but relatively easy to clean :)

Oh, bless him! He IS too cool!

Royal blue and gold here....tomato sauce stains compulsory.

Yep, same yellow. Mine had his first day today which went all too smoothly. Thank goodness because he's been a little anxious about it since none of his preschool friends were going to our school.

Oh well done MM! You got him there, very much your achievement too :o)
He is so devilishly cute in that photo.
And guess what?? The school Angus is going to next year has the same colour shirt. I CAN'T STAND IT. Of all the colours, this has to be the worst for a school uniform... and I'm going to have that eyesore hanging on my clothes line, YAY! ;o)

OMG what a scarey looking kid! He looks like the school bully here! But I know he's far from it. So glad to hear all is going well - I can imagine nothing worse than an unhappy little boy to pull at your heart strings as you send him back the next day.... Kath xx

Our school has the same gold tops. Luckily my kids look good in yellow - if it had been me, I would have looked sickly everyday.

No school uniform here, but school is such a milestone! Congrats to him!

Yes, the exact same polo shirt...

Our school does not have uniforms! Sometimes I wish that we did, but I know the son is happy that he can pick what he wears.
