Being a Mum of multiples, when our twins were born someone bought us one of those "Twins on Board" signs. After sending the appropriate "Thank you" card, that sign went straight into the Vinnies bag. I hope someone who really appreciated it found it at a bargain price. Not my bag. Honestly, the gift made me see the gifter in a whole different light. And not necessarily in a good way.
The latest cringe-worthy car sign I have seen about the place is "Little Adventurer on board". Gag. Is it even possible that people think this is cool? Informative? True?
The last baby adventurer I saw was, um, never. Nope. I have never seen a baby cross the Antarctic in snow shoes, kayak across the ditch or in fact, climb Mount Kilmanjaro. Nope I have never seen a 'little adventurer' do anything vaguely adventurous. What are you thinking people?!?
And of course, there are those awful "My Family" stickers. Awful. I remember the little stick people popping up on Facebook circa 2006. They were kind of cute for the first month of circulation, but on a person's vehicle seven years later, they are just terrible.
Who cares how many people you have in your family? Or if your favourite past time is shopping (really?). Or if you have six chickens, three dogs and a partridge in a pear tree. My Family stickers have no business being on people's rear windows.
To each their own of course, but nothing spells bogan parent to me like a My Family sticker collection.
What do you think of car signs? Are you a fan? What do you have on your car?

*Throws My Family sticker, car reindeer antlers and red nose, clip-on Australian flags and the partridge in the pear tree quietly in the bin* *and tiptoes away*
Hate them - totally bogan (not an expression we use in the UK but I love it!).
On a serious note - much time can be wasted by the emergency services due to these stickers - if a car is in an accident and has a'baby on board' sticker for example then a huge amount of effort may be put into looking for a baby that isn't actually in the car at the time causing delays and possible danger to those searching.
I am not a fan. There is a car in the school car park that has a star wars version of the family sticker, and although Mr 8 begs for this on our car, the answer is no. Never!
xx
Hi, am a newbie to your blog and really enjoying reading what you have to say. I loved your recent post about natural shampoos and last weekend endured family jokes about smelling like a chip shop when I rinsed my hair with vinegar (definitely brought out the shine!)
Anyway, totally agree with the car sticker hate - it is cringeworthy and unfortunately does automatically make me review my judgement on anyone who has these on their cars xx
I drive like a total idiot, so when I see a "baby on board" sign I slow down and drive carefully. However when I see a "Proud parent of an honor roll student" sign, I will try and run them off the road!
But that's just me.
Nothing on our windows when we had a car. We even took off the sticker advertising the company we'd bought the car from.
Car signs suck. I always see those baby on board signs and think "And.....?" Those my family stickers should be illegal - who does care that the guy who cut me off in peak hour has a cat and a BBQ? Bit like those frangipanni car stickers of the past... Bah stickerbug!!! Kath xx
Bogan? Seriously?
Do you decorate your house? Yourself? Ie clothing, jewellery, makeup?
Some of us like to decorate our cars, why does that offend you so?
I don't insult your choice in clothing, type of car or colour of your car
Whatever happened to a bit of fun?
The only family stick figure sticker I have ever seen that I thought were ok was one with 1 crazy looking woman and the rest of the window covered in cats. Hilarious. You couldn't pay me to have one of those stickers on my car
Today I saw a sticker. " I don't give a flying f***about your stick family". Without the asterisks. I found it much more offensive than a few stick figures
Haha! This post is so funny! While I respect that people like these stickers, they're not me at all. I'm a bare minimalist. Bit my kids think it's boring because they want antler on the car at Christmas and I'm not really convinced. Mind you, does this carry through to house decorations at Xmas too? This could get BIG! Xx
Whaaaat!! There's a Manly Sea Eagles sign on the back of the car and woe betide the person who tried to take it off.
It wisnae me who put it up of course. I've never put a sign up, but will you be horrified to hear that I have been thinking for ages of getting a big magnet thinggy on the car to advertise my blog. Hah!
Good on Blossom for sticking up for the stick people... venehmently!
I can't stand them myself. x
I'm not a fan of these car stickers but I don't hate them as well--it's such a strong word to use. But there are just some car stickers that are just too ridiculous. Just last week, I saw a family of car stickers (Dad, Mom, Son, Daughter, and Baby from left to right) and I was surprised to see a sexy girl posing on the other side of Dad named "Jenna". (Maybe she is the mistress?)
Oh I am in stitches! Too funny. I have ALWAYS hated the stickers and just think....'are you serious' every time I see them (luckily they aren't SO big here in NZ) and those "baby on board' signs APPARENTLY are for the purpose of enlightening emergency to look out for a child when and if the car is in an accident? I'm not sold though, I always thought the car seat was evidence enough!
Okay I dislike the regular My Family stickers, I think they are also a bit of an advertisement to burglers and stuff, as to if you have dogs and how many people you have in the house.
However, that being said we have the Star Wars stickers on my husbands car. Only because he is an ugly Sandpeople sticker and I get to be a sexy stormtrooper!
Well I don't have strong feelings either way, not on this topic (have plenty on other topics;) except, well I'm a tight wad, imagine how much it would cost me!!
